Cranberry Chutney & Cream Cheese Appetizer

½ cup sugar

¼ cup minced onion

1 clove garlic, minced

¼ teaspoon cinnamon

¼ teaspoon ground gloves

½ teaspoon cardamom

1/8 teaspoon ginger

¼ teaspoon salt

1 Tablespoons vinegar

½ cup water

1 ½ cups cranberries

1 ½ Tablespoons packed brown sugar

8 ounces cream cheese

Combine first 10 ingredients; simmer for 5 minutes.  Add cranberries and brown sugar; simmer for 15 minutes.  Mixture should be thick.  Let cool.  Refrigerate until serving.

To serve as appetizer, pour chutney over cream cheese.  Serve with crackers.

This can be refrigerated up to 6 months!
